ELEKTRA : 6th INTERNATIONAL DIGITAL ART BIENNIAL (BIAN)

Digital and Immersif Art Exhibition

Founded in 2012, the International Digital Art Biennial (BIAN) presented by ELEKTRA returns at Arsenal Contemporary Art Montreal to explore the idea of METAMORPHOSIS, focusing more specifically on the process of MUTATION

In this post-pandemic era, this sudden return to a greatly disrupted reality, particularly at the geopolitical and climatic levels, forces us to rethink our ways of life and review our values.

Curated by Alain Thibault in the METAMORPHOSIS series which was co-curated with DooEun Choi, guest curator of BIAN 5. This 6th edition of the BIAN will bring together the work of 27 artists from four continents.

The purchase of a ticket also gives you access to the main exhibition space and the new display entitled Chimeria, presenting the work of 4 international artists around the theme of chimera and euphoria.

Performance by Louise Lecavalier and Lu Yang:

Come and attend the performance of dancer and choregrapher Louise Lecavalier with visual artist Lu Yang on January 26, 27 and 28, 2023 at 7 p.m.*! Entitled Lu Yang: Delusional World, the 30-minute performance mixes virtual and real worlds.

Lu Yang: Delusional World is part of a series of live motion capture performances consisting of Lu Yang's exploration of the theme of Buddhist reincarnation (saṃsāra) in virtual environments by embodying various forms of avatars created by the artist.

Drawing inspiration from video games, Japanese manga, and club culture, the performance presented creates a connection between the creative worlds of both artists. Using motion capture technology, Lu Yang's avatars that move on the screen are animated by the live dance movements of dancer/choreographer Louise Lecavalier.

*Admission at regular rate. Purchase a regular ticket for the day of the performance. Doors open at 6:30 pm and close at 8:30 pm.
