Megan Rooney
This spring, Arsenal Contemporary Art Montreal is pleased to welcome Megan Rooney for two residencies. The Canadian artist will be in preparation (Mar 7 - Apr 24, 2016 and June 28 - July 15, 2016) for her solo exhibitions Animals on the bed at Seventeen (London, England) and Piggy Piggy at Croy Nielsen (Berlin, Germany), for the group exhibition A Pool is Water, presented from July 14 to Sept 10, 2016, at Galerie Division, and finally for her performance f on your tongue that will take place on the suspended bridge Peak Walk by Tissot, Glacier 3000 (Ormont-Dessus, Switzerland).
Megan Rooney works with a variety of media - including painting, sculpture, installation, performance and language - to develop intertwined narratives. The body is a recurring element in her work, as both the subjective starting point and the final site for the sedimentation of experiences explored through her practice. She addresses the myriad effects of politics and society that manifest in the home and in the female body. The subjects of her works are drawn directly from her life and environment, while her references are deeply anchored in the present moment.
